Constituency groups and committees

Bringing together key healthcare leaders to drive change

AzHHA brings together healthcare leaders from across the state to serve on select committees and constituency groups, including behavioral health, small rural hospitals and post-acute care hospitals. At AzHHA, we know it is important to connect with colleagues who are experiencing the same challenges and concerns. These forums give members a chance to come together and tackle the key issues they face every day in new and innovative ways.

Public Policy Committee

The AzHHA Public Policy Committee guides AzHHA’s advocacy agenda by identifying key state and federal issues affecting Arizona hospitals and helping shape policy priorities. The committee reviews major legislative and regulatory proposals, provides strategic input on emerging challenges and ensures AzHHA’s positions reflect the needs of hospitals, health systems and the communities they serve.

Working under the oversight of the AzHHA Board of Directors, the committee helps maintain alignment between member priorities and AzHHA’s policy direction. Committee membership is primarily composed of hospital and health system CEOs, with additional senior leaders participating to offer expertise on finance, operations, workforce, behavioral health and other critical areas of care.

Through this collaborative leadership, the Public Policy Committee plays a vital role in advancing policies that strengthen Arizona’s healthcare system and support high-quality, accessible care for all Arizonans.

Behavioral Health Constituency Group

The Behavioral Health Constituency Group focuses on addressing issues specifically related to the hospitals and facilities devoted to behavioral health. Together, we identify trends, issues, concerns and risks so that we might set the strategic direction of our public policy efforts and recognize specific major public policy issues.

Small Rural Hospital Constituency Group

Small rural hospitals face different challenges, such as financial stability and the recruitment and retention of top doctors and nurses. The Small Rural Hospital Constituency Group allows smaller hospitals to focus on issues specific to their rural communities and patients.

Post-Acute Care Hospital Constituency Group

The Post-Acute Care Hospital Constituency Group works together to find better ways to bring Arizonans the care they deserve after discharge from an acute care hospital. This group focuses on patients who still need ongoing support before returning home, including those served by long-term acute care hospitals (LTACH) and rehabilitation hospitals. Not only does this constituency group allow its stakeholders to analyze issues and collaborate, but it digs deep to identify how they can put information together to help patients receive the right level of care at the right time during their recovery journey.

The Post-Acute Care Patient Placement Guide was developed by the AzHHA Post-Acute Care Constituency Group with patients and families in mind. This guide is an easy-to-use tool for patients and family members when they have post-acute care needs.

Designed to be used with your case manager, it ensures patients receive the right level of post-acute care at the right place and the right time.

Managed Care Committee

The Managed Care Committee convenes hospital managed care experts from across Arizona—including chief financial officers, managed care directors and revenue cycle directors—to collaboratively address challenges related to health plan accountability and performance. Committee members share insights and concerns regarding interactions with health plans, with the goal of fostering transparency, consistency and fairness with managed care practices. In addition, the committee works to identify potential solutions that enhance patient care. AzHHA members who wish to be part of this committee may contact us at advocacy@azhha.org.
